What does this verse mean? SALT?! Now what is the purpose of salt? We use it to add flavor into our food, right? Into our awesome McDonald's fries, ha! Our talapia. Our bread mix. Our eggs. In almost all of our cooking. Does the salt change when you add it into your food? No, your food is the thing that changes. It develops more flavor. Okay, now what does this have to do with us Christians being salt? WTH?! Calm down, my friend. :) As a child of God... as an individual SAVED by God's grace... as a person who LOVES God.. we have a purpose here on earth. And the same purpose goes to everybody else who doesn't even know God personally. Of course we live to worship and glorify our Maker. We are His creation. But what else are we doing on earth? Are we just walking around pretending like we don't know God? Or are we just trying to take the so-called "easy way" into Heaven and just go around saying "I love Jesus" but not tell anyone why you do? As Christians, are we telling others WHY we are faithful? WHY is God so great? WHAT has he done as a testimony in your life? Are we telling that to people? Are we blending in with the world's sin? What? What are you doing in life, as a child of God. Let's show others that we are not ashamed of our faith. We're here on earth to be that "Salt" that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. But if we lose our saltiness - our faith, our love, our hope for others and for God - then HOW are the people going to taste this Saltiness? How are they going to experience God, if we have lost that faith to share to others? Can you imagine every "Christian" not sharing their faith? It's straight up blasphemy towards God... No Salt = no flavor = no purpose. Right? If we added salt into our food and no effect took place, what's the use? It would have no purpose. Crazeh, huh? So I encourage those of you who have accepted Christ as your SAVIOR - not as some kind of trend - get out there and be the Salt of the earth. Be a light. Be an encourager. Be loving. Show God's goodness through your actions. Live what God is calling us to do.
